Our mission 

EmpowerU is an exciting and fast-growing educational programme that serves migrant domestic workers (MDW) and “ethnic minority” youth in Hong Kong. EmpowerU’s mission is to make high-quality education accessible to everyone.


Our work

Founded in 2018, EmpowerU initially focused on providing education for migrant domestic workers, and in 2020 we expanded our programmes to serve ethnic minority communities in Hong Kong. We specifically work with community leaders and educators to develop and offer innovative online/in-person educational programmes that supplement what is offered in existing education systems.

II. Job Description

We are looking for a creative Hong Kong-based, part-time (20 hours a week) Educational Content Creator to help us enter into the next phase of growth in our hybrid online/in-person education programmes. In this role, you will be working with the EmpowerU Team and diverse stakeholders, including university educators, community educators, corporates, NGOs and other community leaders to create high-quality, tailor-made educational content for the communities we serve. You will help shape the future of this exciting social enterprise, and through this process become an important member of the community we build with our students.


Our curriculum is developed by the seasoned educators of the EmpowerU team working together with community educators from a variety of fields. We use an innovative hybrid learning model that combines in-person lessons and high-quality pre-recorded online videos for our courses. As the Educational Content Creator, you will work with the Executive Director and the Programme Managers to ensure that the online education content we create for our students is high-quality, engaging, and effective.

Scope of Work

  1. Creation of online educational content. Including lesson videos that will be uploaded to our education platform

  2. Creation of social media content. Engaging and visually appealing content for our social media platforms to promote our programmes and build our online community presence.

  • Part-time position with a maximum of 20 hours per week

  • Flexible hours and can work remotely for editing


Candidates with the following skills/experience are encouraged to apply:

  • Videography, editing and film production

  • Studio-based video production

  • Proficiency with Adobe Premiere Pro

  • Familiarity with current social media trends

  • Creativity and a passionate interest in film and video editing

  • Proficiency in using English to communicate (required)

  • Proficiency with a South or South East Asian language (preferred)

  • Able to work in a multicultural environment

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Highly flexible and adaptive

  • Technologically literate

  • Independent learner

  • Digital education background (preferred)

Job responsibilities 

​Although some experience in education - particularly digital education - could be beneficial, the ideal candidate would have experience in videography, video editing, and audio/video content production. Some of the detailed activities anticipated under this role include:

  • Filming the education programme videos 

    • Using your talent and creativity and the EmpowerU equipment, film the lesson content working together with the course instructors and the EmpowerU team

    • Setting up and taking down the film studio at the EmpowerU office

    • Brainstorming creative production elements into the filming

  • Editing of the education programme videos

    • Add your own creative touch and personality to the lesson videos

    • Edit education videos using EmpowerU’s Adobe Premiere Pro software

    • Add necessary effects, graphics, and music into the videos

    • Create video animations using PowToon or equivalent software (Ideal, but not required)

  • Creating content for social media platforms

    • Work with programme managers to strategise best practices for social media

    • Develop creative social media content to share on social media channels for both education and promotion of the programmes

    • Make regular posts on social media (at least weekly)
